I get the sense the author didn't do much pregnancy or early child development for this book as the timelines are all over the place when it comes to these two things. She's got a baby born 4-6 months ago siting in a restaurant high chair playing with crayons, babbling animal sounds and doing things that'd be very advance. If we're supposed to think the main character is further along, her baby is small.
