While this memoir provides a glimpse into growing up in Rock Springs, Wyoming as a coal mining town, it is quite choppy and random. It reads like an encyclopedia of the author life with little rhyme or reason to presentation. It will be interesting to see what book club members think.

Although it is a dry memoir, it is crammed full of pertinent information for those interested in Rock Springs history and childhood memories.

Rereading this work for a third time. While it may not be the most engaging peice. It does provide a nice firsthand account of growing up in Rock Springs. It is a nice compliment to the Chris Plant Oral History Project I am presently processing.

I love his detail of the memories. The facts however seem to take away from his own memory.

I really like a part in Chapter 9 when he talks about one of his fondest memories from school was listening to his teacher read different stories to him. Some of my strongest childhood memories also have a book related to them.

A love for history will not make you a historian... What do you think makes you a historian? Now let's get to the grit of this story!

The story about the mayor and the different ways the mines came into existence is a really fascinating history to Rock Springs. Mostly everything I've learned is a new perspective to Rock Springs. I especially love the pictures that are inserted.

Chapter four left my head reeling with all the numbers and little unique facts about the begging of Blairtown and Rock Springs. I just kept thinking about all the research involved in almost three pages. WOW.

Interesting opening to a memoir. It appears the author is recounting the regional folklore. Can't wait to see what happens as we start into his story with Chapter 8.
