I’m kinda having to slog through this. It’s not what I expected. I was looking for another crazy girl / normal somewhat damaged guy book from this author but Mars might be crazier than she is.

Okay, so this book is definitely unhinged but I have never laughed out loud so much 😂

This is why I enjoy this author’s writing so much:
“These are the reasons why I don’t “do” romance in the real world. If I want to be disappointed, I’ll buy off Temu.”

I love how they are each other’s flavor of toxic. We aren’t even really dating but you presented me a locking necklace and I instead of being horrified was in love with it. Delicious. I’m going to act as if I’m pining for your brother. You will only be mildly insecure about it.

“Come on, Ceres. Humor my attempts at respect.” “What word will make you comfortable, mas—”
I, like Mars, may spontaneously combust if that sentence gets finished. Here he is needlessly reigning in all his crazy to make sure he’s not scaring her and shes about to explode his heart.

Ah we are at the part of every Camilla Evergreen book when I get smacked in the face by my neurodivergent feels. The unspoken rules most everyone seems to know and obey that makes people mad when you don’t. Never heard of them, nope not me.

Why doesn’t my partner dreamily sigh over how nuts I am and how much he loves it? I’m about to start specifically requesting that please.

I live Ceres gaslighting Mars so much. How else should you respond to someone barging into your house, using all of your eggs, and making your bread into toast? Never mind that he’s making sure you eat. Be mean to him. I like how pathetic he gets. It’s adorable.

“Maybe I should move back into the city,” I murmur. Mars’s eyes snap off the flames. “Because of me?” No, not even a little bit. I stare at him, then poke the bundle of nerves that seems to make him up. “Yes.”

Oh I love how unhinged they are acting so far. I know Ceres says she mirrors people but she keeps giving Mars the funniest answers in response to his red flags.
