okay finished volume 4. this volume definiely has me hooked on the series. the fun action from the last volume continued but we also got a bit more explanation for a few world elements. definitely liked that we finally got a backstory for a mc as well as an explanation of somethings importance. curious for the next arc to see where things go from here. should be fun to read more

These artist descriptions of characters are hilarious. I agree that Utagawa is totally unmemorable, I definitely need to go back and watch this fight in the anime. I remember him more from the invasion episodes, but mostly just that he went invisible for most of the time...

We won't even get into how Yugo had an 11 year old Yuma that no one knew about even though he was with Border more recently... Yuma's origin is really unexplored. They call Japan Yugo's homeland, but did the Border people know he was a Neighbor, or is it that Yuma's mom was a Neighbor Yugo hooked up with on a trip to the Neighborhood?

I sometimes think the author is a little too loose with time. It's been 5 years since the black trigger was made, it's been 3 years since Jin got it, Jin is 18, Konami is 17 and has been in Border for longer than him, the major attack on Mikado city was 4 years ago, what was Border doing recruiting kids before the world knew it existed?

Satori is definitely better looking in here than in the anime. I can't remember him from this battle in the anime, I feel like he was only introduced when Chika started training at HQ, maybe there were too many people around and I got confused. I should at least check out this battle episode again at least.

And now I see I was confusing Izumi and Tachikawa in the anime as well. I feel like Izumi looks older in combat, because thinking of where the anime is now (he's watching rank wars) he totally looks like he does in this comic, but thinking of the fights he's been in he seemed rather different in the anime. I'm starting to feel like I need to rewatch it with a better understanding now...

All these teams are getting confusing, especially since the artist isn't big on crazy hair styles or color (not that it matters in black and white, but my confusion stems from the anime I watched first) that make it easier to tell people apart. I realize now I spent a lot of the anime confusing Miwa and Kazama even though they don't look that similar in drawings. :) Maybe I'm just getting old...

Arashiyama is the Captain America of this series. Used for publicity, is actually a good fighter, but cares about people and doing what's right.
