Okay, I'm giving back a half-star for featuring a black heroine who CAN'T dance, a Black Goth best friend who hangs out with Goths. The hero is kind of meh though. He's alpha and all, but kind of just there. Actually that's interesting, since it tends to be the opposite in a lot of romance books.

Word to authors: unless your character is an unrepentant ignorant racist, or the story is set in a turbulent era of history, I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE N-WORD USED. I don't care how you spell it or if the context is 'friendly', I don't want to see it. I definitely don't want to see it in a contemporary IR. Other than that, this is a pretty good read. Humor is a definite plus.
