Status Updates From Shadow Ticket

Did not finish. Real bad. Multiple time jumps. Interesting plot slowed to a screeching halt by dialogue. Tapped out with 100 pages left.

Every time Pynchon writes a new book (which isn’t often), I always pick it up and tell myself “This will be the one that makes me a fan.” But it still hasn’t happened. This read was a struggle. 1930’s CIA spy noir novel with time appropriate slang sounds like a fun time but there appeared to be too much jumping around. Maybe I’ll “get” the next one.

“Ace by now is drifting into middle age. Beginning to find himself approached by practiced fingers reaching from the other world, to bring him away, one stitch at a time, into a crazy quilt he might never know more of than a few patches adjoining, crazy and lost as himself.”
