Status Updates From Hunger

I’ll have to take a break for now as lunch is approaching and I don’t know if I can stomach it.

But also the characters are just so incredibly tragic, as sad circumstances brings them together & trauma bonds them. Their love is obsessive & unhealthy, not something to look at w/ anything more than pity.

It is so blissfully sad & dark, & I love it, but I must stop now or I’ll cry in the middle of the Mumu cafe.

These poor children, this book honestly brings me close to tears, so hurt and yet I’m reading it too quickly to be able to take notes.

Why do I like sad stories the most? I think it’s because I like stories that make me feel deeply, and happy stories don’t really do that.

“Gu died on the street”

A haunting story about a woman struggling w/ loss.

Terrifying, strange, incredible. The way that this is organized is what I find most fascinating.

Short passages, some only a paragraph, each leading into another but always a new page w/ a new thought.

It seems to be about Gu and Dam, and I believe that depending on the perspective the dots at the start of the chapter (verse?) change.

Human as meat, human as object, human as tool. A person’s value is proportional to their bank balance. Our society seems to think it’s okay to look down on the poor. And when you’re constantly broke and beaten down, you start to think money’s the only thing that matters. The more ur knocked down, the more you cling to money, hoping it can put you back together. It’s messed up, yeah, but that’s how it is
