I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I do not give a fuck about Griffin and Rachel, and even skimming their scenes is annoying.

Royal struggles to build tension in scenes where tension is innate.

I'm going to say something brave yet controversial: I hate romance novel series. They make novelists lazy and the narratives flabby. Authors used to make their narratives tight and focused because they didn't rely on making it a diluted series (usually that follows a family). The main couple becomes boring because I have to hear about all this backstory for some randos as the author winks at me for the next book.

Not much is happening. They're just very chill.

I've spent more time reading about this random English man who really wants to fuck his cousin. The ways of the British truly are a mystery.
