I'm going to say something brave yet controversial: I hate romance novel series. They make novelists lazy and the narratives flabby. Authors used to make their narratives tight and focused because they didn't rely on making it a diluted series (usually that follows a family). The main couple becomes boring because I have to hear about all this backstory for some randos as the author winks at me for the next book.
