From the pocket of her dress she removed a small pistol and, showing no hesitation, shot the man squarely in the back.

That escalated quickly.

“I’ve never done a fresh bullet wound before. They only let us practice on pig carcasses.”
“Well, if you lose this patient you can’t have him for dinner.”

Called out on a freezing Christmas Eve to help police at a murder scene who turns out to be her father, Alex starts working taking in the scene before realizing who the victim is and she and her police contact are in trouble for her even being there. Relieved of the case, but then still involved because she was the first psychic there making her insights valuable, she is attempting to do her job while grieving...

That was great fun. It was a book that I returned to eagerly each day. A fast-paced plot. Original ideas. A few surprises along the way and a strong, relatable femal lead. It was a romp in the best possible way. It took itself seriously. All the action happened within a couple of days. Through all the action set-pieces, the intrigues and the puzzle solving the story remained focued on our heroine's emotional journey.

This would make a great TV series. I'm surprised one of the streaming companies hasn't picked it up and expanded on it.

Wow, that was a lot of action. I love the pace of the story. It's impressive to be able to deliver so much action and still sketch a plausible alternative Victorian London and make the lead character engaging.

Two chapters in and I'm being propelled along by the mystery and by picking up the details of this alternative Victorian London.

A fun easy read that i think will turn into a romp of a mystery.
