I like that there are other stories of Great Lakes shipping tragedies interspersed throughout the story of the Fitzgerald. Really drives in the idea that sailing the Great Lakes could be dangerous work.

I should probably not admit this publicly, but I was today years old when I realized that the Edmund Fitzgerald sunk in 1975 not 1875. See, kids, this is why we read nonfiction books: it keeps us learning new things even after we are over the hill.
