I’m just bored. Nothing seems to actually be going anywhere. Like Ik they’re mutually attracted to each other and trying not to die but it just seems like the same thing over and over again each time with a different male lead. Mc gets attacked Mc saves her. Mc does something that ml doesn’t approve of because “unsafe”. It works and ml talks to Mc about being protective and shit. And they both agree

I slowly walk around the room, admiring how the tan and white furnishings continue the airy theme. White wooden bookshelves stand tall against the brick and are full of worn books, framed pictures, and small mementos. I lean in to study a snapshot of a younger Gatlin standing in front of a pyramid in Egypt with a broad smile on his face.

A beautiful strand of pearls comes to mind. Fifteenth century. Used by the Earl of Salisbury to choke his mistress. I place my hands on the guy nearest to me. He lurches backward, coughing and wheezing, then starts clawing at his throat. Red creeps up, covering his face. He motions frantically for his friend to help him.

Sun glints off Hawthorne’s dark brown hair, bringing out the natural red highlights. Broad shoulders block the sun from hitting the book in front of him. Several female students sit nearby, gawking at him, but he doesn’t glance in their direction.

There has got to be a better way to differentiate them because those are basically the same thing. I’d wager demons smell like muskier natural scents like burning fire and wood grain while elves are light not subtle natural scents like sweet flowers and tart fruits. But the author used musk to illustrate elven scent.
