Status Updates From A Curse of Storms and Scorn

I finally figured out what’s bothering me so much about this book: the character isn’t written to FEEL emotions. She only observes and reacts, like a robot or a sociopath . I don’t think she’s supposed to be one, obviously, but the author does not SHOW her expressing emotions and emotional reactions for the majority of the interactions she’s had the require them.

The beginning line of this chapter is literally “my world had always been one thing, and now it was another.” 😑😒 Good lord.

🙄😮‍💨 So far this story lacks any kind of depth. Like the fact that everyone got pissed at her, including the commander, over a whistle. 😒 Be for real. I’m going to try and push through but if the interactions don’t have more actual weight, depth and risk soon I’m not going to waste my time.

So far I'm really enjoying this. 😉
