Just finished the Chapter on Sorel. I read his main book, Reflection on Violence, but to my shame I can not say I truly understood the guy.
I now see how he is the one who reformed marxism into proto fascism.

I guess any book on ideology must go through the clasics of that ideology. Here I am wondering. Should I read the chapter on this guy, and then ignore all of his books? Should I trust the author that he did a good job in distilling the content of all the books and life of a clasic into one Chapter ? To the clasics that I have read, I must say the author dose a good job, and sheds light that a casual read may miss.

Finished the first book, The Founders. The author is not harsh to Marx and Engles as I expected him to be He presented their worldview in the most complex yet easy to understand way I ever saw. Yet his critic of the Founders I feel lies in how vague and imprecise their ideas are at deep scrutiny This opens the door of multiple interpretations of their work in a manner that reminds me of religious writings.

The book finally arrived, and it is massive.
My wife asked me: Why do you need to know about this anyway. Seeing how many pages I have to read I also ask this myself.
Finished reading the 2004 preface; and this is the only author who understands that marxism was empty words in the easter bloc in its final decades for both elite and normal people. An observation that only people who lived in the eastern bloc can make
