Status Updates From Pieces of the Night

Fate isn’t always logical.
But it is, in fact, inevitable.

“I have my midnights.”
“Those are just fragments. Scattered pieces of a much bigger picture,” he counters, closing his eyes, curling his fingers into his palm. “It’s not enough.”
“I disagree. When you truly want something, you make it enough. Pieces are still pieces. You collect them, maneuver them, and you don’t stop until the puzzle becomes whole.”

Songs have lungs. They breathe.
And right now, this one is alive.

“You’re playing with fire, Annalise.”
He’s wrong.
The only fire I’m playing with is the one inside me.

“Everyone has cards, Chase,” she murmurs, her fingers curling around my shoulder.
“Even the worst hands can still be played.”
