Carver sprinted for the porch, the dogs remaining behind with me because I had dropped to one knee and petted them hard, rubbing and scratching behind their ears. I loved dogs—the ferocity of their love and the depth of devotion. I patted them soundly, thumping their sides before I rose, and they trailed after me, tails wagging, bumping my hands, licking, wanting more.

OMG! Mary Calmes can make you fall in love with her men, at the drop of a hat. And I so fell for Pete and Carver just that fast. I love that Pete told Carver right from the beginning that most men, ran from him because he was so possessive. Did that scare Carver hell no, that's just one more thing that Carver loves about Pete and the fact that Pete gets Carver and his art is icing on the cake. I want more from them.
