Doesn't feel so fantastical so far. I know this is a standalone fantasy - I thought we'd be getting to the fantasy part pretty quickly but 6 Chapters in and it's been a lot of modern troubled teen-ness.

Description of the southern Arizona (Sonoran) desert is right on.

I didn't like the characters, content, or style at all.

Oh, it's getting good now.... I really like this story. Lots of action and still room for a bit of romance.... Love it!

What a great small quote, "most of the troubles they encountered in life were a reflection of their own attitude." It speaks volumes toward a person's daily quality of life and situational outcomes. Truly powerful words!

The metaphors and other literary devices are already annoying. "With arms and legs flailing, he fell like Alice in Wonderland plummeting into the rabbit hole." Ugh. "The guilt was haunting, and like a bloodthirsty vampire in pursuit of a juicy neck; he was hell bent on getting something to mask his pain." Oh , Dear Lord.

this book is mad long. I read this for like 1 hour and I only made a small dent... Whilst reading, I concluded that the MC is such a whiny, self-centered, arrogant guy. His actions were so feminine.

what the heck? that's like out of nowhere! why would the author do that? especially so close to the end? *shakes head* it's like it was a last minute idea, that he just chucked in here!

you know that frustrating moment when you're screaming at your kindle, trying to make the characters see who the bad guy is because you figured it out and they're still like "what? Who? When? Where?" and the first compulsion you feel is to flip table? yea...this is my reaction right now.

Hmm, okay...not exactly what I was expecting but that could be a good thing right?
