Saying it's a dream doesn't cut it.

The book I was expecting to read was based on:
"Puck Him Up is a scorching, dark rivals-to-lovers MM hockey romance full of enemies with attitude, slow-burn obsession, locker room heat, and two alpha athletes who were made to collide."
Where was that book? What I found was practically an incoherent mess of characters, plot and writing. Glad it wasn't assigned reading.

Needy much! Leander stays at his place for one night and Phoenix goes off the rails, drags a friend to a club, gets drunk, takes drugs and starts grinding with girls.

Are they supposed to be joined at the hip?
Where's his emotional resilience? Phoenix is a mess

"Fruitcake"? Is that an American insult for gay? In British English it's more likely to mean mad, as in mad crazy as a box of frogs.
Why? Because only a mad person would put frogs in a box.

When you don't really care about the characters despite their traumatic backgrounds, the plot because there's nothing there and the writing makes you question why you are reading, you know it's time to head out and not return.

"So I do something reckless. My hand slips under the blankets, brushing his hip, then lower. He jerks, sharp inhale cutting the silence."

Not reckless but beyond stupid. And how cheap is this hockey team that they are sharing THREE to a room. It really isn't on that you start having sex in the night with your partner while a team mate is asleep. Especially when no one on the team knows that you are dating.
