Status Updates From Les Dieux lents

So far it's reminded me of Tchaikovsky's Final Architect series. In that the way it starts is to throw you into this universe with a brief history lesson and cultural dispute references. All from main character's perspective as an isolated within the mass average male just out of school ready to work.
I'm intrigued by the main plot very much, however I am struggling with the audiobook narrator 😣

Fascinating book! Cost me 3 hours of sleep last night. I would like to read the physical copy. Not entirely delighted with the narrator's inflections and choices of accents, but the book is good enough for me to accept it.

"There will be constant threat. Betrayal. Derring-do, you might say"

I can't believe I just read two books in a row that both used "derring-do" (Angel Down was the previous)
