Grateful that this is only a novella. I'm having so many issues with the absolute wtfery that's going on.

I'm not buying that Brocks family doesn't recognize him. He's only been gone 5 years. Faith claims she's been married to him for centuries and Derrick was a grown man when Brock left... Explanations should have been given right off the bat. Like first or second page...

The witch shows up after weeks and "happens" to mention fooling Brock. Then her familiar "happens" to forget to reinforce the wards on the cages. Smacks of a set-up to me. Tedious.

One chapter in and Cassidy has written that a particular action is "a mistake" at least 20 times. So far, the protagonist is the stupidest werewolf on the planet. And that includes Meyer's lot. This does not bode well.
