I need another break from this !!

Elizabeth has agreed to allow Georgiana into the London home Darcy explicitly banned his sister from, so she can steal/pilfer petty stuff for cash while D is away.

So next thing Elizabeth does is take her personal journal to Georgiana’s old room (where she is expected to come to retrieve stuff), and proceeds to write a steamy, uncensored account of her relationship with her husband, right before G arrives!

Now Elizabeth is explicitly telling Georgiana she is to wait until Darcy goes to Pemberley so she can go into the house to steal and pilfer stuff to sell in order to get cash for Wickham !!!!! What the h*ck am I reading here ??????

Darcy made it very clear Georgiana would be shunned and NO MONEY was to be given to her as long as she remain alongside Wickham. Elizabeth knows this before marrying Darcy, she agreed to this before & after marrying him.

So OF COURSE the first thing she does as Georgiana approaches her in London, is to give her cash and keep it secret from Darcy [ eye roll ].

The most sordid, excrutiating, and angst filled scene of a powerless Darcy pleading with Georgiana to leave Wickham (in Gretna Green) on the basis of serious risk of STDs, and Georgiana stubbornly choosing her lover and insisting on marrying him quickly.

Just horrible, this story seems irredeemable to me.

This is not making any sense.
My latest attempt to pick up this story has failed (again) — I am just too tired to post about the nonsense in this book.

Still stuck here — this story has failed to grab my attention, and I can usually read through anything, even when I dislike it !

The story is slow paced and the supposed tension between the characters is not “tensioning” — dragging so far >> I am forcing myself to push through, but the story fails to capture my interest and I find myself avoiding it !

Mrs. Young boldly talking back to Mr. Darcy and preasuring him to change his mind about removing Georgiana from Ramsgate is ridiculous; she was employed as a servant and the master’s orders were not up for debate or negotiation — illogical, crazy, out of character, without any sense of historical coherence too!

Girl just tell him!!! I hate when Lizzy is so smart for most of the book and then becomes extremely dumb

tbh after the wild beginning i thought this would be angstier but it's pretty chill. waiting for wickham to show up with his nose fallen off or something tho

Wickham being worse and Georgiana still choosing him is crazy

Trying the best method I know to crack this diabolical slump. 3 months is long enough
