Good lord this book is ridiculously, stupidly, romantically verbose. I’m only reading it and then Last of the Mohicans because of their historical value. Imo there is no real literary value to this otherwise. It’s a time capsule of whitesplaining and mansplaining — I despise those terms, but frankly that is all JFC is doing here.

I’m in a book rut and I’ve been wanting to read this one for awhile so here goes nothing!
