I’m struggling here. There’s some elements I love—a working class, semi rural setting, a himbo MC—but something about the tone isn’t working for me. There’s a vacillation between soft-hearted-ness and attempts at angsty conflict that just feels weird. I stalled out on an “I’m too broken for him!” scene that was just kinda…soppy. Not sure if it’s worth continuing.

Why do they keep calling each other dinks? What the hell does that mean?

I've only read the prologue and this book looks great!
