צבי רקס צוטט: "הגרמנים לעולם לא יסלחו ליהודים על אושוויץ". הוא התכוון בכך לדרכם של גרמנים לברוח מאחריות ולהציג את עצמם כקורבנות האמיתיים של ההיסטוריה. להיפוך היוצרות הזה הייתי מוסיף: "הגרמנים לעולם לא יסלחו ליהודים גם על ישראל", שכן קיומה המטריד הוא תזכורת לשנאה התהומית ולפשעים שהביאו יהודים רבים לעזוב את ארצם ולהקים בית לאומי. ישראל נתפסת כעונש מוסרי ופוליטי. וכל עוד העונש קיים, קיים גם החטא. באין עונש - אין חטא.
