Status Updates From Checking Out Love

barely anything has happened yet (not a complaint!!) but i am so enamored with this novella anyway

I wish it was less tell and more show. This book is so long winded, that it can put you to sleep. The second Jeremy opens his mouth I zone out. I don't see what there is to like about him. Half way... And it's so short that I'm tempted to not finish.

AOM read. Haven't had used one of the shorts to complete the challenge in over a month, so cashing in here on a new-to-me author.

“God.” Jeremy made an unintelligible noise. “Freaking kiss me already.” He wasn’t sure if he made a greedy grab for the lavender cardigan first or Benj moved forward, but soft, so soft, wool was at his fingertips and he liked it. “You want to, right? No special permission needed. Except from me, and—yeah—granted.”

Usually, by this point in knowing me, people are screaming for me to shut up or go away. I thought you would too, but as long as I keep my voice down, you don’t. It’s nice. I like you. I’m going to keep you.

“There’s no sign telling me not to!” he pleaded, with quiet urgency. People had been eating downstairs. But of course, upstairs was a different matter. “I’m starving and candy makes my thesis better.”

The librarian opened his mouth as if he had something to say about either the wink or the stretch, then closed it. This was good, because Jeremy had no explanation for the former. Apparently the respectable building turned him into a flirty twink of some kind, when he wasn’t, at all.

"I’ll watch my language. Sorry, again. I get excited sometimes. And when I get excited, I get enthusiastic, and then I cannot stop talking. It’s left me alone and dateless on Valentine’s Day since… pretty much puberty. I will shut up now."

Did you know that a maze and a labyrinth are different things, although today people use the terms interchangeably? You can get lost in a maze, but you can’t get lost in a labyrinth. Disoriented, maybe, but not lost.”

“Minotaur?” “You know, the guardian of this place? Like the Greek monster inside the labyrinth,”

Ha! Loved it, could read 200 more pages of Benj and Jeremy!
