Status Updates From The Dark Sisters

Karen was silent, seeing in her mind's eye the whole world gone blank and meaningless, a dead globe spinning insanely across the sky, with everywhere the senseless, painted masks, like Chinese lanterns sawing up and down, mopping and mowing in imbecile emptiness.

Alone once more, she experienced a sweet restoration. There was a wonderful satisfaction in being alone. Solitude was kindly and comforting and full of rest and renewal. She felt herself floating back to tranquility in the calm lap of silence, steeping herself in the peaceful, quiet seclusion.

Her long horse's face was rather rakish under a little black felt skullcap that was slashed up over one eye to display a triangle of dead white forehead.
