I want to snuggle Ernesto and Wallis.

I still think I would have enjoyed this more if I read the whole series first.

I feel like I needed to read the first books in this series to get the full picture of this story.

My bad, they are already lovers. But also why do we care about the guy that died? We don't, and neither does she. She's just bringing up her (apparently dead from cancer) mom to compare the dead guy to someone. Still don't like anyone.

Terrible terrible book. I can't stand the main, and lo I just met her love interest and he's obviously a hunky cop that's suspicious of her. I hate the talking animals, too. This is not a book for me. And I'm only on page 31. This is very slow going.

She's talking to the kitten. I already don't like this.

I haven't decided whether I like Pru, the protagonist, or not - she seems to be rather mercenary. She might understand animals, but she doesn't seem to make many allowances for people. I'm not the most social person, but even I know how to behave in a church service, and that a funeral is not the place to confront the grieving children about your pay and the future of the kitten.
