Why is there more of a romantic connection and a tad bit more feeling than the main love interest with this side character?

Omfg, stoooop with the 'his dad' 'his father' 'his dad' 'Dad said' the audience gets it, no need to keep reminding them every sentence.

So...a jump to two months later. We're supposed to be rooting for Andy and Lucy here. So we're just gonna miss all that bonding? Honestly, a lose/lose here. If they are still on him being silent and still slogging through saying 10 words to each other, why the jump? If they are all of a sudden so close to each other, why the jump? I don't care about all this other stuff, if this is supposed to be romance, give me it.

I'm on chapter 11 and this is just slogging through. They've barely said 10 words to each other and she's thinking of taking up with someone else. Just get on with it.
