Status Updates From Miles Away (Carrion, #1)

I hate when I don't finish a book but in only just starting chapter 2 and I feel like this is gonna be a DNF.

One thing that irritates me so far it that the blurb here on Goodreads is wrong. Let type was 17 and Miles was 18 when everything went down. Then it forwards to 17 years later!

It doesn’t matter that there is still a contract on my head. It doesn’t matter that my father is probably going to try to kill me.

“Miles!” Knox called out. Turning his glare in Knox’s direction, Miles spat, “Don’t ever speak my name again. You’re dead to me!”

“Why are we runnin’ from Knox?” “Because he’s with the guy who just tried to shoot me in the fuckin’ head! C’mon!” Tears began to stream down Letty’s face as she gave a look back at Knox. Horror took over Letty’s eyes as her gaze met Knox’s. Shaking his head from side to side, Knox looked at Letty with a look of warning.

I might end up DNF'ing this. So now the h is explaining to him about her child. Feeling guilty that she had a ONS while he was in prison. I don't blame her- she never heard from him. There is a reason. Anyway- he tells her not to worry- that everyone has a past. Makes me wonder what he was up to in prison. His past should just be her. They dated from the time he was 15 until he was put away at 18.

So far it is weird. It doesn't read smoothly at all. Also Miles has been in jail for 15 years and grew a beard which he thinks to himself that women love. After he is released he is at a restaurant and runs into an old friend and he asks about the beard. Miles winks and flirts with a blonde while rubbing his beard and saying women love it. What women? Were there women roaming the prison saying they love his beard?

Really getting good now!
