Finished with book one, which left me totally confused about all the plots going on, and who is on who's side, and my goodness, maybe a family tree because everyone seems to be related somehow.

Okay...so I'm not even through Chapter 3 and I'm dying for some reason. The tone of the writing and the characters feel so basic and monotone, I have no idea if I'll be able to finish this because the writing is so....underdeveloped...? Not at all what I was looking forward to.
