this was such a warm, comforting little read. i loved that it wasn't really about romance, but about someone coming into your life at the right time and leaving you better than they found you.

i hope they got that coffee date of four someda. hiya, her granny, him, and his wife... admiring the mountains and talking about happy things ☕

"one day, i'll give a name to this beautiful thing in my heart that is not love." i had to stop for a second 🤌🏻⭐

also, i really liked that the book didn't try to label what he felt for hiya as love

i loved the "smile for a discount" bit 😭 and the fact that he smiled without even thinking about the money. it just happened

i've officially accepted that the biggest conflict in this book is this man's own brain 😭

he'll witness one tiny thing and somehow end up reflecting on backpacker hostels, huckleberry finn, a kafka quote, a covid call centre job, being put on hold for fifteen minutes and then somehow circle back to wondering what he's running from

and yet... i'm weirdly invested??

also, this guy thinks too much (same bro, same)

the contrast between his constant internal monologue and hiya just... existing is everything

this man's brain is genuinely a circus 😭 he'll spend five minutes overthinking whether he should introduce himself or ask if he can smoke, make up ten hypothetical scenarios in his head and somehow convince himself that the weirdest option is the most reasonable one
