So far I hate our main characters. Slay

I don't like describing anyone as "fat" but then labeling another character as soft around the middle. why is this description acceptable for one character and not another.

Bea’s protectiveness is a signal. It means there is something to protect, something that happened, something that made the protection necessary."
Idk if this is a style choice but I do not like it.
