He starts dating the uppity baddie who’s a good woman and then when she shows up at his door they mess around with the ow right upstairs. The way this gave me anxiety. I could never cheat cause I ain’t built like that. He feels bad and does an apology performance the next day. Then MCs get married that very week. Felt bad for ow but these two had me rooting for them bad. Loved it

MCs are bfs FMC has a scrub at home but uses mmc for all things boyfriend material except the title they even “made love once” just found it funny they called it that and still try to act like they could stay friends. Anyway mmc beats up said scrub because he shows up at his restaurant on vday to cuss FMC out. FMC is scared of how much she likes mmc did that and goes ghost on him after he confesses his love.

Especially since mmc was the man in town, good looking, good dick, protective, loving etc but she won’t pick him.. I need a better why. Then the question of why she didn’t work and let a man belittle her about it. Girl get a job and leave that man. Still this authors writing and mmc yearning won me over despite all that so that’s a massive win right there.

This was in mmc pov so I did feel like I didn’t really know FMC all that well. So it was hard to understand her reservations about their relationship and why she stayed with an aunt shit man for 6 years. Also she hinted at having her own issues, getting therapy and also knowing how men act when fighting through grief. I just felt there was a whole side of the story I was missing

This was a pleasant surprise. It was really beautifully written, author used such beautiful metaphors and I really felt how mmc was feeling and how he love FMC down bad. This was more talking than showing though there was a good mix. Normally I get irritated when MCs have already hooked up in the book but mmc loved to talk in long eloquent prose like damn write me a love letter for real.

Alright it’s time to wrap this book up. I’m about to DNF. They are talking too much. Like full monologues bakc and forth but then you have some moments where there is a page and half between the dialogue. I had to go back and see what was said smh.

This is so cringeeeeee lmaooo homegirl is upstairssss ahh that whole scene was giving me anxiety!! Like how big is this house? She didnt hear all that?? I’m panicking about what’s going on to happen next.

I’m only 4% in but the writing so far is really good. I’m taking a break from urban romance so I have to remember I’m not in the hood anymore. It’s nicer over here.

Halfway through the book and. I’m irritated 😒
Despite the long ass flashbacks. I’m just not feeling it.
I’m annoyed at him giving Ms. Dubois only a shell of himself. Like don’t use my good sis as a placeholder for Ru. Currently reading the chapter where Ru showed up professing her love and I’m extremely irritated. Like how you complain about him giving you a deadline and you’re doing the exact same.
