While I don't believe in the plausibility of getting married when you're blackout drunk, I do approve of it as a plot device.

If the main character doesn't have to work extra hard to get this man to love her, I'm going to be really disappointed in the author. Also, if this man accepts this woman because now she'll finally have him , I will also become really disappointed in the author. Have some self-respect, man! She wouldn't have you then. Don't take her now.
