a big part of my continuing with this despite its early problems was the lmao-and-ijbol potential (also my reading slump and my wish to just FINISH fantasy books)

as of right now, I actually respect some things the author is doing. It could've been over at 50% with the 'breakup' and this could've been the start of the second book, but the author is giving us more plot in the second half of the book instead

I wish the other Dowager's ladies would be described better. Instead, all we get is mention that there're nicer ladies than Elisabeth, and everything else is just random names of them talking as a filler, but they're not important. We don't know anything about them (except filler 'looking beautiful in a dress before a ball"), there're no real friendships to read about, we don't even know how these girls look

honestly, a lot of the novel so far has been me ijbol-ing and lmao-ing
