Status Updates From Vespertine

This book so far is not what I expected, but in a good way. The plot is interesting enough I kinda forgot it was a romance book.
I’m curious where the author is taking these characters.
I do have to say the MCs are well developed, which makes it interesting to read through the plot.

The only light in the hallway was a stark beam from the moon but Jasper saw everything with the clarity of an overexposed photograph. Nicky was right, he should be panicking, but he wasn’t. He felt utterly calm and…right.

This is hardly the first time Jaz has been beautifully calm around Nicky. He is questioning his calling because of his love for this man. That is no small thing.

Dizzy, you adorable little murder kitty. 😸 How did I forget you or your gift to poor Jazz?
Nicky has some of the best tattoos I've seen on a fictional character. They are all full of meaning to him. All well designed. What he told his mother about his floral sleeve isn't the whole truth about that piece. Those flowers link to another.

Oh man... With or Without You. Anytime that is used in a book or film or TV series it will always mess me up. It's a brilliantly emotional song.

Nicky, don't abuse the confessional, poor baby. Jasper's heart can't take it. There is something appealing about an atheist using the confessional to deal with his issues and his former best friend, now the Priest, comparing God to their shared childhood dog.
“I’m imagining God as a giant Honey now, Jazz. The God in my mind is a female Rhodesian Ridgeback and she’s about to lick my face.”

It's time for another reread, again listening to a book I previously read. I hadn't forgotten how much I liked the main characters but I had forgotten the supporting cast. Nicky's parents, Lizzie, trans girl Jaz is helping and Ramona, Nicky's awesome bandmate.

I just know this one is going to ruin me
