The bad translation is really interesting. Using google Translate I can figure out the Russian word they must have used.
"A Strolling Traider" Strolling must have been бродячий-and translates to wandering, roving, vagrant, strolling, vagabond, rambling
Clearly he mean wandering or Roving trader, but the translator used strolling.

This book is very Russian. The translator didn't do much to clean up the syntax or alter the idioms.
