Status Updates From The Dark

I’m once again floored my McGaherns prose. His use of multiple perspective puts you in the shoes of the narrator. I’m still waiting for the oomph. Maybe it won’t come.

Very dark, I can see why it’s banned. McGahern is an excellent writer, but there’s something missing for me still.

Fucking dark man. Jesus. What a stark contrast from Dilla.

Cruising for an easy 5 stars, this one...

The title of this book is very fitting to what’s happening to the characters. Without giving away the plot, this is a hard read for me with what’s been done to them as children and as they are becoming adults. I genuinely avoid books like this because of that reason.

I’m at the part where he’s finally in college away from everything and damn if it doesn’t remind me of how it was putting hundreds of miles between me and the tumultuous situation I was living in (when I moved away for college)….. this book is ROUGH dude…. Would not recommend for those of a weaker constitution
