I like the noticeable change in tone from captain to tourist. Now that the rescue of the crew is out of his hands he's gone from business to positively Muirian scenic prose. I don't like the prose, of course, but it's cool to see the weight lift from his shoulders.

For half the book the man who survived this tragedy, who many no doubt held a little responsible for this tragedy, has been storytelling with no great sense of foreboding. Things are just about to get bad. I love these arctic incidents.
