Status Updates From Beneath the Current

Wonders briefly how a boy purposefully isolated has access to movies and Taylor Swift on his iPad but is still so seemingly naive. Also wonders how this remote island off the coast of Sri Lanka has so far produced a seemingly entire white cast. Meh, I’ll go with it... for now, because the general storyline is interesting. However these little things irk me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also, it’s disdain.

This author. Amaze-balls. Read the last 75% in one sitting. Dicey to get hooked, but when I did, I was reeled right in, no fight. Still didn't prefer the external main conflict and "villain" character was a bit cartoonish, but he was made relateable by the author's presentation of his love for his past partner. Casey was adorable. Shawn needed a bit more oomph (too perfect), but still, solid story!

I like it, I especially like Casey's vulnerability, but I don't like that the conflict centres around his uncle and the science experiment stuff. I'd prefer if it were around Casey and a paramour. But, I loved the emotions of Tears of the Neko, so, I'm reading on, trusting this author will deliver.
