Status Updates From 1984

Quite odd that I find similarities between Winston and Dr. Glas (Hjalmar Söderberg). The way he thinks, his diary, his perception on women, his solitude, his dreams. Even Orwell's writing style. I wonder if this book has themes of morality or even a psychological aspect. I was fascinated by the depth of Glas's character, and it's just an uncanny resemblance I found between him and Winston.

Love it so far. Just got to chapter 3, and the way the book masterfully describes the concept of cognitive dissonance in a world that is too painfully complex is astounding. While I enjoy the book, seeing the eerie parallels with our own world does fill me with a bit of overwhelming dread.
