Status Updates From Dirty Words

I'm in chapter 3 & I'm already thinking on giving it up. The story keeps going back & forth between memories & the present. W/o anything acknowledging the memories except italics. One paragraph is typed normal & the next is italics. To this slow reader this style doesn't work. I will try a little more before I totally give up.
