Falcon in his arrogance can be funny, fascinating and annoying. But he is devastating in his kindness. Just killing me right now.
Also I am astonished about my strong reaction to the way Veryan describes him moving around a room. This must be the most sensual thing she has ever written.

"He bowed grandly, and thus did not see the hand that hovered briefly over his glass. There was general laughter, and the game went on."

"I wonder what I have done," said Falcon bitterly, "that Providence so punishes me. What with the disgusting maxims constantly hurled at my head by Lieutenant Morris, and the rhyming cant I endure from the rascally hedgebird who masquerades as my valet, my life is dismal indeed!"

His chance to slip away was gone. There they were; the other four hooded and masked gentlemen of treason, sitting at a table that appeared to date from the construction of the room, and staring at him.

How very tiresome it is that the gentlemen are so selfish and always want to keep their adventures to themselves.

The dust jacket artist does a nice job, except that for all six books it looks like these same two characters and the hero does not look remotely Chinese. He looks more the Scarlet Pimpernel, extremely English. Lol!
