Reading up on reviews is keeping my hopes down for this book but it’s one of the few books by autistic people (not just about them) at my library so I’ll keep reading it but I know I won’t like it

I wasn’t aware if I had read this before and now coming to terms that while I have gotten the book out before, I never got as far to where I am now. With the ride from my home town to Vancouver I was able to sit down and read for most of the ride. The book is really good and I find myself amused at certain sentences and where things get to.

So I agree with some of the authors' sentiments & I even relate to her a bit. We are both autistic girls, after all. However, I'm not into her whole "recovery from autism" thing. Also, the "remember things could be worse" thing seems a bit bootstrappy to me.

"...when we celebrate a disability, we forget the burdens it imposes on people."

So if my reading comprehension is working properly, the implication the author is making is that any disability inherently makes you a burden to others.

Okay, so the premise, nor the beginning, doesn't seem too bad: autistic girl wants to share her experiences with other teens.
