The ending of Phaedra left me speechless. It’s just gruesome and extremely tragic. Seneca makes the earlier known story as from Euripides more cruel and scary by turning everything into a human doing. No gods or fate are navigating the story, but human desires, sins and choices.

Just reread Seneca’s Medea and wow, it felt SO intense. Much more than Euripides’s version. It’s like Medea seeks to hurt more consciously than in Euripides, making her truly more a villain towards the end than a misunderstood woman.
