To oppose Kombuthi village, Perunaali brings the police into the picture, and the law begins to turn against the people of Kombuthi. The conflict deepens, marking the start of a tense and powerful phase in the story.

Starting from Kaalaththi’s story, the cruelty unfolds—her death, Thuruvan’s punishment, Solai’s tragic end, and Perunaachi’s well filled with waste. The intensity keeps building, and I’ve only reached a quarter of the book so far. There’s still a long way to go, and it already feels powerful and haunting.

I love the flow of the story—how it begins with a tragedy that sets the course for each character’s journey. The sorrow is followed by the vivid portrayal of Kombuthi village, along with the lives and customs of the Perunaali and Vaiyathurai's villages. Every character and aspect of their world is introduced with such natural rhythm and seamless storytelling.
