Everyone’s had “last night on Earth” sexy times (only that it’s not on Earth), and we’re about to launch into the big fight, David vs. Goliath style.

“Bravado was another thing he’d learned from Dear Old Dad. It was so much more decorous than screaming in terror.”

There’s something creepily organic about those drones and their tentacle wires. *shudders*

I like the themes this one tackles: disability, PTSD, the wear and tear of technological advancement, the way humans struggle to keep up with Things™️.

I’ve reconnected with the book after pausing for almost two weeks. And i think we may have aliens. Aliens!

This came in my ABOS sci-fi/fantasy box, and I fully intended DNF-ing this after 50 pages since military space operas usually aren’t my thing AND I didn’t want to commit to another book series consisting of big, door-stopping chonkers.
Now here I am, liking it 76 pages in, already a fan of the living legend main character and his new sidekick, a disabled man with chronic pain.

So far it is intriguing. It is fast paced right off the bat, which can be good, but it does move a but too fast for me, from scene to scene.
I am excited to continue to read it, but I do worry I will lose my ability to follow it well with the speed of things.
