Reading about the wretched Kunduz airlift again. A squandered opportunity to decapitate the head of the snake in return for assistance in capturing of low- to mid-ranking Al-Qaeda operatives & state-support for U.S. drone strikes within Pakistan's borders that most likely eliminated groups or individuals opposed to ISI's machinations. Dubious returns, to be exact.

Jeez. The alphabet soup that are the non-state actors backed and/or created by Pakistan's ISI e.g. LeT, JeM, HuM, JuI, JI, HM, and so on & so forth. It gives an impression that there is somebody in a secret room, somewhere in a secret ISI facility in Islamabad, solely paid to just come up with those names & their respective acronyms.

"Arrogating to themselves the exclusive right to patriotism, it is understood that they tried to manipulate the [election] results in favor or against certain political parties by threats and coercion, persuasion and offers of bribes." - Zulfikar Ali Khan Commission findings on ISI, #CautionaryTale

The Twilight Zone moment when one reads that while Generals Zia ul-Haq & Hamid Gul employed ISI's Internal Wing to keep tab of perceived domestic dissension, which included minorities like Syiah(!), both dreamt of a Pak-led pan-Islamic(!) coalition that included Iran(!), aimed at India.

"Polling public opinion was one of ISI’s most important missions in the leadup to elections...Another important pre-election task for ISI was reaching out to Islamist parties...[and use them to] weaken the Awami League and the PPP by siphoning of some of their votes." #QOTD
