I can’t decide who drives me more bonkers - Cynthia or Sybil?

It’s very enjoyable, but some aspects of the mystery seem rather obvious. I hope for some surprises. Meanwhile, Cynthia may no longer feel so alone. But - possible allies aside - one new arrival is most unwelcome.

Next up for me will likely be Other Paths To Glory by Anthony Price. Or, Green Ice by Raoul Whitfield.

Hmm. Greylands...if you are planning a trip there, things will get off to a much happier start if they know you're coming.

This will be my third Annie Haynes novel. I thought The Bungalow Mystery quite well done, and The Man With The Dark Beard was not too shabby. It seems, with this one, Haynes goes from melodramatic to full-on Gothic.

Still waiting for the penny to drop...

Our heroine is really quite wet. She's just returned from being sent to walk into the village. Physically, she has no stamina. Her snobbishness makes it difficult for her to treat people like people and she loses all judgement in the presence of a pretty woman.

However this all works out, I doubt her iron will will be at the centre of the resolution.

Well, this Sybil woman can't be a real cousin, she must be an accomplice of the much younger husband?
