“This… this guy. Colin. He’s fruity as a nutcake and he prances around with his twatty graduate degree and his fancy-schmancy everything, and the only reason I can stand to be near him is he’s got a spectacular ass and he’s hung like goddamn Pegasus.” He glanced up at Jeremy, scowled, and looked away. “And he’s also a pretty good guy,” he muttered.

The young soldier as god-figure/wiseman at the end made me roll my eyes, the story got a bit wobbly in its focus at times, and although I liked the high emotion levels, I did feel twinges of suspicion that I was being manipulated to cry, I still liked this story overall. Got a lot of solid things to say about families and love. Not one I’d recommend unless I knew someone was looking for a HEA Nicholas Sparks.

And the Donny conflict he keeps bringing up to show he’s not perfect is not even about him. In fact, it furthers his knighthood! Lame. And the murder plot line is shoehorned in. But I love me my insecure, trying real hard Qay.

Hoo boy these Thanksgiving scenes are pushing Jeremy into unlikeable-saintly territory …

Talking my time reading this one. Just a chapter or so every day. It’s not a page turner (unlike all the mysteries and thrillers I’ve been reading lately), but it’s interesting, feels real, and I want to know how this slow-building friends-to-lovers relationship tension works into their eventual commitment. And it makes me smile.

Been reading a lot of Robert B. Parker lately. His fast-paced stories, written in short sentences with a descriptive, declarative style is incredibly addictive when combined with his humour and straightforward character depth. But this slower paced book, with its reflective, emotional tone, which has humour too, and more complex character depth, is an enjoyable, rich, slower read.

These guys are so adorkable... Even with the heavy aspects, this book has been a delight to read.

Yes I'm reading other books, but some days you need to loose yourself in a favourite.

Apropos of nothing, back when I used to write LOTR fanfic, I could never bring myself to hurt any of the characters. The worst I did was give Sam Gamgee a mild ankle sprain and a week off work, and even that made me feel guilty. I don't know how authors can bear hurt their characters. It's a mystery to me.

Enjoying this, it has a similar vibe to Rattlesnake so far. Jeremy is perhaps a little too perfect but...
